coordinative locomotor training
A Smarter Approach to Movement Rehabilitation
CLT® is an advanced training and treatment concept that rebuilds your body’s natural coordination patterns—used in walking and running—to resolve pain, instability, and inefficient movement through precise, three-dimensional motion strategies.
How CLT® Works
Most Movement Problems Aren’t Where the Pain Is
Pain, instability, and limited mobility are rarely isolated issues.
They are the result of inefficient coordination across the entire system.
Traditional approaches often focus on muscles or joints in isolation.
CLT® takes a different path—by restoring the coordination patterns your body is naturally built to use.
WHAT IS CLT®
A Movement System Based on Real Human Locomotion
CLT® (Coordinative Locomotor Training) is a training and treatment concept that improves movement by restoring natural coordination patterns used in walking and running.
Built on PNF principles and expanded into real-life movement, CLT® uses precisely defined three-dimensional patterns to:
- reduce pain
- improve stability and trunk control
- restore mobility with control
- increase movement efficiency
Instead of training muscles in isolation, CLT® trains the body as a coordinated system.
Train the Nervous System. Not Just the Muscles.
CLT® is a facilitation-based concept—guiding the nervous system toward efficient movement through coordinated patterns.
By combining sensory input (proprioceptive, exteroceptive, telereceptive), the body reorganizes movement automatically.

New CLT Book in English
This workbook is the successor to my two German books, Let’s Sprint, Let’s Skate (Springer, 2009) and PNF in Locomotion (Springer, 2018). It presents my concept of Coordinative Locomotor Training (CLT) and Exercises, based on the use of coordinated muscle chains to activate muscles in different functions. Since walking is our highest functional goal and these muscle synergies are reflected in gait, CLT focuses on working with these inherited pathways. The concept combines training with hands-on CLT patterns and techniques, and exercises with hands-off practice and home programs. This workbook illustrates my approach through numerous photos of different patient problems, provides space for your own notes, and offers ideas for effective home exercises.
